Painting Competition: Nurgle Lord/Guardsman 'little' Belwas WIP

I've completed the modelling for my Nurgle Lord and he looks nothing like a Nurgle Lord now.  From this point forth he will be called Guardsman 'little' Belwas (apologies to GoT fans but I couldn't resist).

Having seen all the interesting things done to this model in blanchitsu etc I just had to do something whacky with him.  What you see is my attempt at a kitbash to rival those in White Dwarf.  It uses the nurgle lord as the base model with bits from the ravenwing accessory sprue.  Not a natural combination for an Imperial Guardsman I grant you but bare with me.

I wanted to 40k him, so a landspeeder aerial and some vents were fitted to his back, this took some careful shaving down of pieces in some places but not too bad.  Then an ammo case was cut in half and slung under his backpack. on the front his axe was cut from between the arms and some handle were created from sprue bits to mount the assault cannon on.

The head was swapped for a space marine one with a breather and some knifes, pouches etc were placed on his belt.  The shoulder pad is a cut down dreadnought leg guard.

Next came the hard work, all the nurgle iconography had to be cleaned off and then every boil, lesion and pustle had to be removed, filled in and smoothed over. Having done all of that the finishing touches were the power cable for the assault cannon and the ammo feed through his legs.  I was originally going to run it around his side but it just wouldn't lay right so I just put it between his legs for a joke.

Of course when you do something for such silly reasons it all just works out perfectly. I now had a reason for his massive size without the ogryn head... He's a eunuch, why else would he be so fat on a guardsman's diet and who else would dare run the ammo belt for an assault cannon between their legs.  Hence the name, if you haven't read Game of Thrones then you should, but for your benefit 'strong' Belwas is a massive fat eunuch who just happens to be an amazing fighter.  Perfect for my eunuch guardsman, the 'little' part of his name just tells you all you need to know about the sophistication of the average guardsman's sense of humour.

Still to come is his base and how a lowly Guardsman managed to get hold of an assault cannon...

  2. Absolutely awesome conversion, this would look great as part of an inquisitors retinue for the game Inquisitor. It would be cool to see the next few painting competition models converted into a small warband :-)

    1. Thanks James, your absolutely right. I should of thought about that and 40k'd the witch hunter into an inquisitor. Hindsight is a wonderful thing...
